Now I warned you I was a weather junkie, and taking pictures of clouds and sky is one of my favorite pastimes. I have more cloud and weather pictures than Carter's got Little Liver Pills. I'm also a trained spotter. Weather fascinates me, and it's something that has to be respected, whether it's the kind of weather you like or not. It can be a very powerful, and devastating thing. I don't believe that a person could stress enough, the importance of being aware, being educated, and being safe.

Through the clouds

Wall of water

This storm eventually produced a brief tornado that did cause damage

Radar detected rotation in this one, and a tornado warning was issued.
There were ground reports of a rotating wall cloud, but no touch downs.

Billowing tower

This also produced a rotating wall cloud, rotation on radar, a tornado warning, but no touchdown.
It was the second supercell generating a tornado warning to move through that day, following the same track.

May I say toad strangler?

This is not something you want to see rotating, and this one was beginning to.

Way cool to see...this is an Iridescent Cloud

This was a memorable day. It's the day we were visited by a small tornado. It was rock n' roll time on the farm! I took this and the following photo as the storm was moving away, and the tornado had lifted. Should have grabbed the camera sooner, but I was so mesmerized by what I was seeing, I just watched. When I first saw it, it was on the ground, and scuds were whirling like a merry-go-round. Actually the first thing I saw, even before the funnel itself, was debris swirling up into the sky. That included my husband's red canoe, that we never did find. The last I saw of it, was as it swooped up into the air, and vanished. We had minor damage, and there was a debris trail for over 3/4 mile. I found part of one of the dog houses, nearly a half mile away. All the dogs came through without a scratch. Our camper was flipped over and landed against the power pole that our transformer is on, and caused the pole to lean a little. Glad it didn't go on over.

And there it goes...moving on, and dissipating. That's a bit of debris there, laying on the ground.
