Kansas doesn't run short in the kritter department. We have feathers, scales, and fur a plenty. Locally, there is an abundance of whitetail deer, bobcat, fox, and an occasional cougar sighted. The timber around here is host to many slithering, flying, crawling, and walking creatures. Yes we do have timber here! There's even some logging done. Oh geeze, and the one I absolutely hate, is the tarantula...shudder!!! You can safely say, you'll never find me getting up close to one to get a picture!

The coyotes are just thick, and at times can be a problem. There's badgers, possums, beaver, rabbits, squirrels, woodchucks, and yessiree skunks! Woo! Oh them little stinkers! You ain't lived till you've been chased around an outbuilding by one very psychotic skunk! Now there's a real challenge! We have turtles, snakes, lizards, and possum on the half shell. Oops, sorry, that's armadillos! Now it used to be when I was a kid, seeing an armadillo around these parts was unheard of. But we did have a lot of jackrabbits. Now, you don't see the jackrabbits anymore, but we have armadillos out the eyeballs. Boy I miss them jackrabbits.

Oh, let me tell ya, there's some good fishin around these parts too. Take yer pick, rivers, ponds, and lakes. And some of them have some sizeable fish in em! There's some really nice hiking and biking trails at some of the lakes too. Any of which give you a chance to watch for some of that Kansas wildlife. Even at home, we often sit here and watch the whitetail deer, and wild turkeys, as they move about.

Every summer we're visited by little tree toads. Sometimes you can count several on our house at once.

If I hide my face, you can't see me!
A raccoon up in a tree early one morning. Now there's a story here. All the dogs were barking and raising a fuss, all but one. The only dog NOT barking was Chase the resident coon hound. Chase was busy sleepin cause she'd been up all night barking at a mouse that had burrowed under her doghouse.
Go figure!
