Weather in Kansas can be interesting to
say the least. When it gets cold, it gets real cold! And when it gets hot,
it gets real hot! For example, want to know what the record high temperature is
for Kansas? On July 18, 1936, in Fredonia, Kansas, which I can see from
here through my window, it hit 121 degrees F! Yep! And on July 24th of the
same year, it did it again in Alton, Kansas. As you can tell, it was
a very hot summer. At the other end of the spectrum, on February 13,
1905, the temperature reached -40 degrees F. in Lebanon, Kansas. Brrrrrr....
Of course aside from temperatures, Kansas is well
known for some of it's severe weather, namely tornadoes. Here are some photos taken
by a nephew of mine, while on patrol. Thank you Tom!
Storm clouds comin. You also can see some of the wildflowers in the meadow.
Trouble looming as the cap breaks, and a potent tower rises
Towering up. Quite beautiful isn't it?
This tower was actually over a hundred miles to the north!
